Cleveland-based classical a cappella group Quire Cleveland specializes in underperformed vocal repertoire from across nearly a millenium.
Its latest program, From Rome to Cleveland: Palestrina at St. Peter, will take place at St. Peter Parish downtown, one of the beautiful historic churches closed by the diocese in 2010 and ordered reopened by the Vatican in 2012.
So there may be a note of triumph in their performance of music by 16th-century composer Palestrina including his Pope Marcellus Mass. Guest conductor Jameson Marvin, who led choral music at Harvard for three decades, leads the ensemble.
“These glorious sounds will certainly make your life more harmonious!” they promise.
General admission tickets are $20; seniors are $12; students are $7, and children under 18 are free.
