Music in an Italian Garden

You are cordially invited to launch Quire Cleveland’s 10th Anniversary Season with a gathering of great music enthusiasts in a beautiful private garden.

There will be delicious late summer refreshments, as well as singing by members of Quire. You’ll have a chance to get to know us — up close and personal — and we’ll have a chance to get to know YOU!

Tickets: $75/person ($60 tax-deductible) — entitling you to bring a new-to-Quire Guest for FREE. Purchase online or call 216-223-8854. Space is limited, so don’t delay!

Hear My Voyce: Music of Henry Purcell

In his brief life (1659–1695), Henry Purcell proved to be remarkably prolific — he wrote 65 verse anthems, 100 hymns & sacred songs, 50 catches (some of them quite risqué!), 24 odes, nearly 200 songs, music for over 50 theatrical productions (the most famous is Dido & Æneas), and 220 instrumental pieces (but NOT the trumpet air for Masterpiece Theatre). Quire Cleveland joins forces with the brilliant chamber ensemble Les Délices (directed by Debra Nagy) for an exciting program of French Baroque music. Violins, oboes, flutes, bassoon, chorus, and a thrilling team of rising-star vocal soloists perform resplendent, rarely-heard sacred works by Rameau and Mondonville. The Land of Harmony: American Choral Gems

Meet us in “The Land of Harmony” — Quire Cleveland’s program of American music. You’ll hear early versions of The Star-Spangled Banner, When Jesus Wept, Amazing Grace — as well as lesser-known but equally inspiring works. Quire returns to the splendid historic Holland Theatre in Bellefontaine, and celebrates the new concert series at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain. (more…)

10th Anniversary Season FINALE: Favorites over the Decade

This FREE concert is a celebration of the past decade, featuring favorite music from previous concerts. The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist hosted Quire Cleveland’s first concert in 2008, and many times since, and will again for this concert.

As in our début, we begin with William Byrd’s Sing Joyfully. Then follow pieces from throughout Europe and America — composed in the early Renaissance through the modern era.
